Dorchester Living Champions Future Talent Through Work Experience Programme
We have recently welcomed several sixth form students for week-long placements across Sales, Marketing and Construction teams. The programme is part of our wider commitment to supporting young people in the community and helping them build the skills, confidence and experience they need to take their next steps.
Over the course of the placements, students were able to get stuck into daily tasks, shadow staff across different departments and see first-hand how a busy housebuilding company operates. For many, it was a chance to explore career paths they might not have previously considered – and to better understand what working life is really like beyond the classroom.
Paul Silver, CEO at Dorchester Living, said: “It’s so important that young people get the chance to try things out early on – not just to gain experience, but to find out what really interests them. We wanted the placements to feel useful and hands-on, not just about making tea or sitting in meetings. We’ve all had moments in our careers where a bit of guidance or encouragement made a big difference – this programme is about offering that.”
The students made a strong impression during their time at Heyford Park, asking smart questions, getting involved and bringing a fresh perspective to the business.
We will continue to work closely with local schools to create new opportunities for young people – and help shape not just the future of the site, but the future of the wider community too.
